Empowering Lives: Sakashm Bharti Foundation's Journey to Self-Sufficiency
As the popular European saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." This timeless wisdom encapsulates the essence of the Sakashm Bharti Foundation (SBF) Kanpur Etawah Project, where the aim is not just to provide assistance but to empower individuals for a lifetime.
Project Overview: Launched in April 2022, the Kanpur Etawah Project has been a journey towards creating self-sufficient individuals. Over the past 20 months, the foundation has successfully completed the first phase of the project, laying the foundation for sustainable change.
Supporting the First Batch: On November 30, 2023, SBF is set to support its first batch of 41 trainees, marking a significant milestone. This diverse group includes seven computer trainees, thirteen beauty trainees, and twenty-one stitching trainees. Each category of trainees is equipped with tools tailored to their chosen field:
Computer trainees receive a Computer set/laptop.
Beautician students are provided with a Parlour chair, Table, mirror, curling machine, and a hair straightener machine.
Stitching students receive a Sewing machine, cutting & iron table, and an iron machine.
Empowering Entrepreneurs: The provision of these kits goes beyond training – it empowers these trainees to start their entrepreneurial ventures in their towns and villages. Today, nine trainees have already embarked on this journey, with three starting Common Service Centers, five establishing Beauty Parlours, and one setting up a stitching studio.
Future Goals: Looking ahead, SBF aims to continue its impactful work by completing the next phase with 100 trainees by January 31, 2024. This upcoming batch will also receive similar kits, ensuring a consistent approach to fostering self-sufficiency.
